Tharpu Chuli or Tent Peak at 5,500m/18045ft. Also known as Tent peak. Tharpu Chuli is one of the popular trekking peaks in the Annapurna Region. It is an attractive mountain and part of the ridgeline that is thrown south from the Tarke Kang (Glacier Dome). It includes Singu Chuli and separates the South and West Annapurna Glaciers. The peak was given its name – ‘Tent Peak’ by Jimmy Roberts, who was exploring the Annapurna Sanctuary in 1956.
The peak was first climbed by members of the Japanese Annapurna South Expedition team from Kyoto University in 1964 led by Dr Higuchi. From the summit, top enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Mountains. Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna III 7555m, Annapurna V 7525m, Annapurna South 7219m are a major attraction. Gangapurna 7455m, Fang 7647m, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail) 6997m, Hiunchuli 6331m, and Singu Chuli 6501m are also main peaks.
Singu Chuli or Fluted Peak at 6,500m/21328ft.The peak rises at the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary, high above the glacial valley. The Singu Chuli Peak Climbing was first ascended by Wilfred Noyce and David Cox. Despite the relative ease of access to the Sanctuary. The climbing of this peak has proved difficult and challenging for most commercial climbing groups. And they make efforts to achieve the Tent Peak.
The climb of this peak includes overcoming of several technical sections and the high degree of commitment. From the top of the summit, we will have great views of Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna III 7855m, Annapurna V 7525m, Annapurna South 7219m. Likewise, Dhaulagiri 8167m, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail) 6997m, Hiunchuli 6441m, Tharpu Chuli or Tent Peak 5500m attracts many climbers.
Tharpu Chuli and Singu Chuli Two Peaks Climbing with Peak Climbing Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition start with a scenic drive. It is from Kathmandu towards beautiful Pokhara valley. From Pokhara, we will take another short drive towards Nayapul – the starting point of the trek. We start our trek from Nayapul and it follows the trail that is a gradual uphill ascent through traditional Gurung villages and dense forest filled with Rhododendron, Oak and Pine trees. In addition, we will also take a hike up to Poonhill at Ghorepani for enjoying early morning sunrise view over the stunning Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
After spending quality time at Poonhill. We will continue to follow the trail that heads towards Choomrung. And from there, our trek continues on the main trail towards Annapurna Base Camp. Our trail leads further to High Camp. Here we will spend a good acclimatization day for ensuring the successful summit climb of Tharpu Chuli the following day.
Fully equipped and properly acclimatized we head out for the summit climb of Tharpu Chuli Peak. Following the guidance of our experienced Sherpa climbing experts. We will overcome some technical sections and ascend all the way to the summit of Tharpu Chuli ‘Tent Peak’. Once at the top, the summit rewards us with breathtaking views of mountains in the Annapurna Region.
Furthermore, After spending quality time at the top, we will descend the same route back to High Camp. From the High Camp, we will follow the ascending trail towards Singu Chuli Camp I and then further to Singu Chuli Camp II. The trail is often snow-covered and if necessary we will make use of our crampons.
The climb of Singu Chuli summit is physically demanding and more technical than Tharpu Chuli. We will overcome the first part of the climb which comprises of several technical sections. Using ropes, ice axes and other essential climbing gears we make the challenging climb to the summit of Singu Chuli.
Our tiring climb of Tharpu Chuli and Singu Chuli Two Peaks Climbing is also rewarded with magnificent views of gigantic mountains within Annapurna Sanctuary. After spending quality time at the summit, we will descend retracing our footsteps back to Camp II. After having achieved Tharpu Chuli and Singu Chuli Two Peaks Climbing in the Annapurna Region, we head back towards Pokhara. We will spend our day sightseeing around some of the attractive world heritage sites within Kathmandu valley. Also, today we will complete all the necessary paper works and other preparations required for Two Peaks Climbing – Tharpu Chuli Peak and Singu Chuli Peak.
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

Today we will take a scenic drive from Kathmandu and drive over zigzag hilly roads to reach Pokhara. Pokhara is a beautiful town set on the banks of the Fewa Lake. It is tourist’s paradise full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples of Buddhist and Hindus along with the fascinating high mountains. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu. After reaching Pokhara you will be transferred to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Today we leave Pokhara and drive for about one and half hour to reach Nayapul – the starting point of the trek. We start our trek from Nayapul as our trail along the Modi Khola river valley to reach Birethanti. At Birethanti we will make a short stop for registration at the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP)’s checkpoint. After registration and permit checks at Birethanti, our trek continues through beautifully terraced fields to arrive at Tikhedhunga.

After breakfast at Tikhedhunga, we cross a small stream and start climbing a rather steep stone staircase to reach Ulleri at 2070 meters. Our trek continues through dense rhododendron filled forest to reach Nangethanti. From there gradual uphill trekking will lead us to Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, we can enjoy the magnificent views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail), Hiunchuli and other surrounding high mountains.

The panorama of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges from Poon Hill is one of the classic Himalayan views. After one hour of hiking, we will reach the top of Poon Hill for enjoying the magnificent sunrise view over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchre (Fish Tail), Tukuche Peak, Hiunchuli and other surrounding high peaks. We will spend a beautiful morning at Poon Hill and then descend back to Ghorepani. Our trail from Ghorepani climbs a little through a forest area in the beginning and after some time our trek is a rather pleasant downhill descend through rhododendron filled forest to arrive at Tadapani.

From Tadapani our trek continues on the trail that goes along thick rhododendron and oak-filled forest towards Chhomrong. Our trail descends vigorously to reach Kimrong. From there a steady climb for about two hours will lead us to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a Gurung village that has managed to preserve its tradition and culture. Besides, from Chhomrong we get to enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail), Hiunchuli and Gangapurna.

After having breakfast at Chhomrung we start our trek by descending down to cross a suspension bridge over Chhomrong Khola. We cross the bridge and trek along the left bank of the river to reach the last permanent settlement of Sinuwa. From Sinuwa our trail is a mixture of several ups and downs through a dense forest filled with rhododendron, oak and bamboo trees. Langur Monkeys are often spotted around the forest area while jumping from one tree to another. Our trek continues until we arrive at Bamboo for the overnight stay.

Today we leave Bamboo and follow the trail that descends steeply along the bank of rocks. After a while, our trek continues on a levelled path before making a steep uphill climb through dense bamboo and rhododendron filled forest to reach Doban. From there a mixture of both downhill and uphill trekking will lead us through Himalaya to a large rock overhang called – Hinku Cave. Our trek continues for about an hour to arrive at Deurali.

Leaving Deurali we trek through a forest filled with fine birch trees and pass along a small snow cave that has been slowly melting in recent years. After a while of trekking, we reach the broad grassy slopes of Machhapuchre Base Camp. From here we can enjoy the views of Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail), Gangapurna and Annapurna South. Our trail from there climbs an ancient moraine all the way up to Annapurna Base Camp. Once we reach Annapurna Base Camp, we are greeted by the up-close view of Annapurna I. We will spend one more day at ABC for acclimatization.

Acclimatization is essential in higher altitudes to avoid altitude sickness and to assure our successful summit climb of Tharpu Chuli Peak and Singu Chuli Peak. By now we have reached over 4,000 meters above sea level. Hence, today we take a day rest at Annapurna Base Camp for acclimatization. We will make short hikes around Annapurna Base Camp, which are considered best for acclimatization and for magnificent views of Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Annapurna South, and other surrounding snow-capped mountains.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
After spending a full day exploration at Annapurna Base Camp, we pack our gears and gently descend to the Annapurna glacier. Our trail goes over the glacier and crosses it before following a difficult trail that climbs to Tent Peak Base Camp. Our climbing trek can be very tiring so resting every now and then helps in restoring energy much needed in higher altitudes. Once we reach the base camp, our Sherpa crew will quickly set up the camps and make preparations for setting up high camp at a higher altitude above the base camp.

After having breakfast at the base camp, we gear up and follow the trail that climbs steeply through a snow-covered and icy trail to reach at a good campsite at 5,200 meters. Our Sherpa crew will do all the hard works from carrying the tents and all the climbing gears. We will spend an additional day rest at high camp for acclimatization before climbing the main summit of Tharpu Chuli ‘ Tent Peak ‘.

Rest Day Tented Camp
Proper acclimatization is the success key to a challenging and excitement filled climbing adventure. Today we will take a rest day at High Camp for acclimatization. With great views of surrounding high peaks within Annapurna Sanctuary, we spend our day indulging in small hikes around the high camp.

7-8 hrs Climb Tented Camp
Today we start early with the vision to reach the summit before noon, as the strong winds after midday can create obstacles in reaching the peak summit. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped with all the climbing gears, we will follow the footsteps of our experienced climbing experts we climb towards the summit of Tharpu Chuli Peak. Once at the top we are rewarded with a superb panorama of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna I, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Annapurna V, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail) and Singu Chuli or Fluted Peak. We will spend short quality time at the summit and start to descend following the same route back to High Camp.

5 days climbing Singu Chuli Peak Tented Camp
From the High Camp, we will spend a couple of days engaging in climbing training practices with enough time for acclimatization. Our Sherpa crew will set up additional camps at higher altitudes before attempting the main summit climb of Singu Chuli Peak. Follow the guidance of our experienced climbing experts we will tackle several technical sections and head towards the summit. Our tiring climb to the summit of Singu Chuli Peak is rewarded with stunning views of high mountains within Annapurna Sanctuary including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Varaha Shikhar, Machhapuchre (Fish-Tail), Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Lamjung Himal, and Tharpu Chuli Peak. We will spend short quality time at the Singu Chuli Peak summit and then descend following the same route back to the Base Camp.

Having achieved our target – the summit of Tharpu Chuli Peak & Singu Chuli Peak, we prepare ourselves for the return journey. From the Tent Peak Base Camp, we start to retrace our steps by following the same trail that passes through Annapurna Base Camp. We will take a short rest at ABC and then descend further to reach Machhapuchre Base Camp for the overnight stay.

Today we leave Machhapuchre Base Camp and continue to retrace our steps on the main ABC trail that descends from harsh alpine vegetation into the subtropical environment. Our trail is mostly downhill as we pass along Deurali, Himalaya, Dobhan and, Bamboo before arriving at Sinuwa. From Sinuwa the settlement of Chhomrong is clearly visible.

4-5 hrs Trek Lodge
From Sinuwa, our trail descends down to cross a suspension bridge over Chhomrong river. After crossing the bridge we start ascending over the stone staircase to the village of Chhomrong. From Chhomrong our trail descends vigorously towards Jhinudanda. There is a ‘Natural Hot Spring’ at Jhinudanda. We will leave our belongings at the tea house and relax at the hot spring of Jhinudanda. It is believed that the hot springs bear the potential of healing body ache and pains.

[5 hrs Trek & 1.5 hr Drive] Hotel/Resort
Today is the last day of our trek. After breakfast, we leave Jhinudanda and follow a rather easy trail that heads all the way to Nayapul. We will trek for a few hours through the densely forested area before arriving back to Nayapul. From Nayapul we take a drive back to Pokhara for our overnight stay.

Today we will take a drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu which is approximately four to five hours of drive journey. After arriving at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or take a walk around the busy shopping streets of Thamel. We will celebrate the successful completion of our adventure-filled Climbing of Two Peaks: Tharpu Chuli Peak and Singu Chuli Peak. Later we will have a final meal together in the evening.
