The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain town nestled in the Himalayas. From there, trekkers follow the iconic Everest Base Camp trail until they reach the village of Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the region. This is a great opportunity for acclimatization and a chance to explore Sherpa culture, as well as pick up some last-minute supplies.
Leaving Namche Bazaar behind, the trek continues through charming Sherpa villages and rhododendron forests, providing stunning vistas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. As trekkers approach the Gokyo Valley, the scenery becomes even more dramatic, with towering peaks reflected in the pristine Gokyo Lakes.
The ascent to Gokyo Ri, a high vantage point above Gokyo, is a highlight of the trek. The Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is a moderate-to-challenging journey, suitable for trekkers with a good level of fitness and some previous trekking experience. The best times to embark on this adventure are in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is generally clear, and the views are at their finest.

Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport (KTM) you will be greeted by a representative from Nepal Challenge Trek. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Friendship World Treks display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to hotel. After check in, you can either take a rest, hang around in the city, visit our office; it all depends upon your interests and condition. In the evening we will organize a “Welcome Dinner” at an excellent traditional Nepalese Restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program as well as a fine meal.

Today after breakfast we will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddha Nath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader, other crew and other participants of this trek. Nepal Challenge Treks briefs us regarding our trek and further provides the opportunity to ask any questions we may have regarding our upcoming adventure.

Upon our early breakfast, we will be escorted to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), a gateway destination from where our trek begins. After an adventurous 40 minute flight above the breathtaking green and white mountains, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike today. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight in Phakding.

Today’s our trek starts in the morning after breakfast. The walk today is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill with multiple crossings over Dudh Koshi River and magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608m/21,675ft) from the Benkar village. We cross more bridges and reach entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where our trekking permits are checked in order to keep record of trekkers and local trekking staffs as well. A descend and a gradual walk brings us to Jorsale, the last village until Namche Bazaar. The walk is enjoyable through the river bed and we reach Hillary Suspension Bridge. Now, as we climb up hill towards Namche Bazzar, closer and magnificent sight of Kwangde Peak, its sister peaks, Kusum Kangaru, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other fabulous mountains will be viewed closely. We stop at Chautara to admire the view. Finally, we reach the colorful village of Namche Bazzar, the main gateway of Khumbu region. Overnight in Namche Bazzar.(B,L,D).
This is the first of the three scheduled “acclimatization” days. Health experts always recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest days instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides will take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. Leave Namche along the direction of the gompa and turn right after the large rocks engraved with Buddhist images. The trek climbs the hill to Khumjung and descends to the valley of Dudhkoshi and arrives at Phortse Thanga (3,500m) which offers supreb views of Thamserku(6,608m), Kangtewa
This will be another short day trek to aid acclimatization to the altitude.The path goes through the middle of forest and offers the first view of Cho you peak (8,153m), working , through rhododendron forest and juniper and large conifers appear as the elevation increases making the trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through kharkas and summer settlements to Dole after thatWe wil work across a rocky terrain scattered with a few dwarf rhododendrons. staying overnight at Machermo at (4,410m)
The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. A few lakes appear on the trail and finally reach to Gokyo (4,750m), which is a collection of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of large lake. The mountain views in the Gokyo region are spectacular. A two-hour climbing on Gokyo Ri (5350m), the small peak above the lake provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, cholatse and Tawache.
The excurtion to the Gokyo peak usually starts early in the morning. The climb is quite steep first 30 minutes, it will take you an hour to reach the top with its traditional prayer flags. From where you will have a magnificent view of highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu, On the way to descent you can enjoy, superb view of Gokyo Lake.
Days 10: Gokyo lake to Dole: Trek back to Dole
After breakfast we will work to Khumjung, Khumjung is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpas’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.
the trail again drops to Namche Bazar and have a short tea/coffee stop and continue descending via same route and on the way stop for the lunch break an hour at Jorsale Village and continue work to Phakding
Last day of the trek in a bustling town enjoy dinner with Your Trekking crew.
Day 14: Flight from Lukla – KTM, transfer to hotel
Days 15: Kathmandu free day, evening culture show with Nepali dinner, hotel
