Greetings Upon Arrival

Max Altitude: 4730 M

Hello! This is the day our team of expert Sherpa guides and crew members welcomes you to the village of Chhukung to begin an adventurous journey of reaching a height of 6189 meters. Firstly, there will be a short discussion on the plan of the team for the next 4 days about summiting the peak. They will inform you on all the important topics while giving instructions on using gears and taking different routes. You will stay overnight at Chhukung.

4 Hours walk

Max Altitude: 5200 M

Today is the day you will begin the real trekking toward the destination. After morning breakfast, you will trek your way from Chhukung village to Island Base Camp passing Imja glaciers while taking in luxurious breathtaking views of Lhotse, Makalu, and other mountains of the Everest region. After 3 to 4 hours of walking, you will reach the Base Camp of Island Peak where the team will set up the tent.
You can explore the base camp while discussing routes for the next day. All meals will be provided by us this whole day. You will stay in tents overnight.

5/6 Hours Walk

Max Altitude: 5600 M

Journey continues. Today you will be trekking to the high camp of Island Peak, a step closer to the summit. You will start the trek early in the morning right after breakfast to reach the high camp as soon as possible to avoid any harsh weather in the evening period. On the way, you will pass a few technical sections where you will use the mountaineering gears.
After reaching the high camp, our crew will install a tent same as the base camp where you will stay for the night.

Note: Depending on Group size and conditions to spend in High Camp. There is an issue with the Water at High Camp, For the small group size it is not convenient to set up a camp, So that We may have Training, acclimatization, and spending a night at the Base camp can be also possible.

8/9 Hours Walk

Max Altitude: 4730 M

You have a big day ahead of yourself today. After having some breakfast, you will start your hike to the destination. Passing through snowy and icy trails in cold temperatures, you will reach a Crampon point where you have to start using crampons in your journey. Progressing on your journey, you will reach the base camp of Imja Glacier with some extremely breathtaking vistas of mountains like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Mera, etc. Our Sherpa guide will be instructing you in every way while you make your way to your goal. You’ll finally reach the summit of Island Peak after negotiating a steep and rocky track in your ascent route and employing some tough alpine skills.

Firstly, congratulations on reaching your goal. All the exhaustion from the strenuous trek will be gone once you will explore the summit of Island peak. From the summit, you will be mesmerized by the scenic vistas of Mera Peak, Baruntse, Makalu, Lhotse, Chamlang, etc. Capture all those breathtaking views from your camera as well as your eyes for unforgettable memories.
After your successful climb to the summit, now is the time to descend back to base camp for an overnight stay in a camp.

On the very first day of the Lobuche Peak climbing from Lobuche town, you will be meeting with our team members at Lobuche town and then altogether head towards the Lobuche Base Camp situated at an elevation of 4,865 meters. We will be making our way towards the Lobuche Glacier along the journey as we face various steep and rocky sections in the route. But no matter the challenges, we will be mesmerized by the jaw-dropping sights of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Pumori, Cholatse, Everest, and some other glorious snowcapped mountain peaks. We will be staying overnight at the Lobuche Base Camp.

On the second day of the adventurous climbing journey, we will be preparing ourselves for the summit through acclimatization and rest along with some training related to the use of gears and the procedures of climbing.

Today, we will be climbing towards the High Camp after having early morning breakfast at Base Camp. We will be arriving at an elevation of 5600 meters. We will be walking through rocky paths filled with boulders and if lucky, will get there right on time to catch the beautiful sunset over the Himalayas from the high camp.

On the fourth day, we will finally begin climbing in consideration with the weather. We will start to ascend at very early in the morning as we will be heading back to the Base Camp on the same day. We will be using all our fitness, training, practices, and knowledge in a practical way as per the instructions of our climbing expert. Despite of the challenges, you will greatly be rewarded with the incredible views of mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. cholatse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. AmaDablam, and some other glorious peaks.

After reaching the Base Camp, we will be celebrating your great accomplishment and then part our ways the very next day with a hope to see you again.

Nepal Challenge Trek is the pioneers of the mountaineering school for westerners in Nepal. Nepal is the perfect classroom clear skies, warm days and consistent conditions. We do not want to just lead you to the top of a snow – capped mountain. We want to teach you the skills to make you a competent team member of any future mountaineering expedition. Our ratio of one instructor to three when learning skills or being guided, means you will get high level of attention we consider necessary.

Who can join the courses???

This course is suitable for the complete novice or a good refresher course for those who want to climb again. You will have discussions on equipment. Weather, avalanches and mountaineering in general. You will have instruction on crevasse rescue, glacier travel, ice climbing, and snow craft. So even if you have climb before you will be having a full and comprehensive revision course on some of the most important skills in mountaineering.

What to carry while climbing??

You will need a small day sack to put an extra fleece in, camera, water bottle, and potentially your water proofs. That’s all.

Trekking Peak Equipment List:

Nepal Challenge Trek will provide the technical climbing equipment, including: harness, axes, helmets, crampons, carrabinas, ropes and base camp camping and cooking equipments.

You will need to supply the following personal equipment. If you do not have the following equipment you can rent it when you arrive in Kathmandu. Our office staff will take you to one of several quality trekking rental stores.

Check your gear works before setting out, hire gear fits, etc. Your mountaineering equipment will be packed into a separate bag provided. Nepal Challenge Trek will transport this separately to base camp. You will NOT have access to this bag until base camp. You only need to carry what you need for trekking, not climbing. Nepal Challenge Trek can arrange a porter to Dzongla for you if you would like to trek with just a day pack.

*If you have something you are particularly prone to, ear infections or sinus problems; bring what you need with you.

If you have something you are particularly prone to, ear infections, foot rot, or sinus problems, bring what you need with you. You will definitely want to be carrying some for common illnesses like diarrhea, staff infection and upset stomachs. You will need a complete set of inoculations for Asia, ask your doctor for advice.
