30 min Drive  Hotel/Resort

Our representative from Nepal Challenge Trek will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be greeted and then transferred to the hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can either have a rest at the Hotel. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Challenge Trek.

Today we will spend most of our day sightseeing around some of the world heritage sites of UNESCO inside Kathmandu valley. Most importantly we will complete all the necessary paper works and make other preparations required for Phari Laptsa Peak Climbing.

Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

45 min Flight & 3-4 Hrs Trek  Lodge

After breakfast, we will be transferred to the domestic airport for an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region. After landing at Lukla, we start our trek by following a trail that gradually ascends as we trek along the left bank of Dudh Koshi river. Our trek passes through pine forest and beautifully painted Mani walls to arrive at Ghat. From there a mixture of both uphill and downhill trekking will lead us to Phakding.

5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

From Phakding we start our trek by crossing a long suspension bridge and then follow an undulating trail that passes through Benkar. We will cross Dudh Koshi river once again before gently ascending to reach a small village of Monjo. Our uphill trekking continues as we pass through densely forested areas and head towards Sagarmatha National Park entry post where we need to register before heading further. After registration, we will descend over the stoned staircase to cross another suspension bridge and then make a long climb to reach Namche Bazaar – The Sherpa Capital.

Acclimatization is very crucial at higher altitudes. By now we have reached over 3,500 meters above the level, so proper acclimatization is a must in order to avoid mental or physical sickness and to ensure the successful climb of Phari Laptsa Peak. Besides, Namche Bazaar is an extensive market town where there is always something to see and places to explore. For acclimatization, we can hike up to Khunde Hospital which was set up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or take an hour’s hike up to Syangboche at 3,800 meters for enjoying best views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. There are good views from the National Park Centre and the Museum which is located just above the town.

5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

After spending a good day rest for acclimatization and exploration at Namche Bazaar we will follow the route that heads all the way up to Khumjung, a picturesque village which also has its own Gompa at the top end of the town. From there we will have excellent views of Thamserku, Kantega and Ama Dablam. From Khumjung, our trail climbs to a large Chorten on top of a ridge. Our trek from the top is a downhill journey down to Phortse Tenga and from there we start to climb steeply through rhododendron and birch forest towards Dole for the overnight stay.

4-5 hrs Trek  Lodge

From Dole, we will follow the trail that climbs along the side valley and passes along many summer settlement areas before arriving at Machhermo. From Macchermo we head towards the lakes of Gokyo. Our trail is a gradual descent following the meltwater rivers of Ngozumpa Glacier. Then, we start to climb steeply into a valley, passing the first of the five lakes of Gokyo. We will soon arrive at the second lake and the third lake which is also known as Dudh Pokhari (Milk Lake). We head towards its eastern shore, the settlement of Gokyo for our overnight stay.

5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

Today we start early for an early morning hike to Gokyo Ri, one of the finest viewpoints in Everest region for mesmerizing views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and several surrounding high peaks in Khumbu region. After about two hours of uphill trekking, we will reach the top of Gokyo Ri at 5340 meters for enjoying the magnificent sunrise view over the world’s towering mountains. After spending some quality time at the top, we descend back to Gokyo. We will spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful glacial valley of Gokyo.

4-5 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

After spending a good day at Gokyo, we continue to follow the trail that heads towards Phari Laptsa Base Camp. Our trail is a gradual ascend journey through alpine vegetation towards a good campsite at 5,520 meters. Once we reach the base camp, our crew will quickly set up the camp and make necessary checks on our health conditions. Afterwards, the crew will make preparations for setting up camp at the higher altitude before attempting the main summit climb of Phari Laptsa Peak.

3-4 hrs Climb  Tented camp

Today is a rather short day trekking but demands a high level of devotion. Leaving the base camp, we will follow the trail that climbs steeply. The trail is often snow-covered and icy. Using ropes and crampons we climb higher towards a good campsite at 5,720 meters. Once we reach the campsite, our Sherpa crew will set up the camp and make final checks on all the climbing gears much needed for the main summit climb of Phari Laptsa Peak – the following day.

8-9 hrs Climb & Trek  Tented Camp

Fully acclimatized and properly equipped with all the climbing gears we start early with the vision to reach the summit before noon as the strong winds after midday can create obstacles in reaching the summit. Following the footsteps and guidance of our experienced climbing experts, we will tackle several technical sections and head towards the summit of Phari Laptsa Peak. Once at the top we are rewarded with up-close views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Pumori, Baruntse, Ama Dablam and other surrounding high peaks in the Khumbu region. We will spend short but quality time at the summit and descend following the same route to reach back to the Base Camp.

5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

After successfully achieving the summit of Phari Laptsa Peak, we take things easy and start our return journey from the base camp by retracing our steps on the same trail that passes through the beautiful Gokyo valley. We will have our lunch at Gokyo and continue on our trek following a rather easy trail to reach back to Machhermo for the overnight stay.

4-5 hrs Trek  Lodge

After breakfast, we leave Machhermo and then follow a rather easy downhill trekking that passes through several summer settlement areas to reach Dole. Our trail from Dole is a steep downhill trekking through dense rhododendron forest towards Phortse Tenga. From there we climb up to a ridge and continue trekking as we pass along the settlement of Khumjung. A rather easy trail from Khumjung will lead us back to Namche Bazaar.

5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

Today is the last day of our trek which leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. We descend passing through the densely forested area – a pleasant walk, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote Koshi River crossing it three times. A final uphill climb of approximately about forty-five minutes will bring us back to Lukla.

45 min Flight  Hotel/Resort

Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at Hotel or pay a visit to attraction destination (world heritage sites of UNESCO) sites that weren’t possible on the second day of the trip. Walking around the busy streets of Kathmandu can be worth spending a good time in Kathmandu city.

You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping streets of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will celebrate the successful completion of our Phari Laptsa Peak Climbing and have a final meal together in the evening.
